Whereas most plants are at their most spectacular when they are in leaf and flower, it could be said that this Dogwood is at its best in the height of winter. Once the leaves fall its fire red stems are revealed, that are always admired by visitors, as they stand out so much on a freezing winters day. Cornus alba 'Gouchaultii' is also an attractive plant in the spring and summer. Its green leaves have pink and yellow edging and in spring it has yellow/white flowers.
