Channel access bends are commonly used in situations where a standard plastic inspection chamber cannot be used. They are used to give a longer, more sweeping curve when changing direction in a drainage system. This makes inspection and cleaning a simpler task. A concrete or brick inspection chamber or manhole is usually constructed around the channel access pipe, which is benched into a mortar or concrete mix. This allows the drain to be accessed for testing, inspection and cleaning in the normal manner. Each end of the channel bend pipe is chamfered to enable a swift connection to a 110mm socketed pipe, coupling or other ring seal fitting.
