The Shire Durham Shed is one of our best-selling sheds, so we're excited to now offer a high-quality pressure-treated Durham variant. With an apex roof and plenty of usable space inside, this is an outstanding shed package that can be used for a variety of storage needs or even as a workshop. Furthermore, with appealing tongue and groove walls, your shed has a classic timber garden structure aspect that will look well in any garden setting. Simply said, pressure treated sheds are the finest of the best when it comes to high-quality wooden garden structures, and the Durham is another wonderful example. A preservative is pressed into the timber under high pressure during pressure treatment. This permeates the wood and gives unrivalled long-term resistance to rot, fungal, and weather damage. This reduces the amount of care required for your shed in the long term and assures that it will last. The Durham has 12mm thick shiplap tongue and groove walls. This creates not only an appealing panel, but also a wonderful seal against the weather, protecting the contents of your shed. For the roof and floor, 9mm thick oriented strand board (OSB) is utilised, a robust and durable material that will provide you a nicely weather resistant roof and a floor with an amazing load capacity. The building's main strength comes from its durable 34mm x 34mm framing, which ensures a sturdy structure that will survive the test of time. There is also an opening window in the Shire Durham Shed. When opened, this will let in natural light as well as cold air, which is very important during the summer. This also creates a pleasant atmosphere in the inside and allows you to utilise it as a workshop. The window is properly mortised and tenoned, and it has a unique, contoured lip that covers the aperture in the panel, making the shed even more weatherproof. It is glazed in horticultural glass for long-lasting clarity, which is a feature rarely found on many sheds of this price from other manufacturers. The single door is ledged for added strength and equipped with a hasp and staple. When keeping stuff in your shed, you can padlock it for added protection and peace of mind (padlock not included.) This shed bundle is backed by a 10-year anti-rot guarantee, so you can be confident that you are purchasing a shed that will last for many years. The most generally used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus), which is widely available at a low cost; however, all of Shire's garden buildings are made from high grade spruce (picea), which is supplied from Siberia and Scandinavia under rigorous FSC guidelines. Spruce is more resilient than pine and has a higher quality finish. This lumber is slow grown, as opposed to rapid grown timber from the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe. Slow grown timber has a tighter grain, less sap, and fewer knots. As a result, the lumber used on Shire's line is a more durable timber that will last far longer than other timbers. This shed has been pressure treated. Except for a little green hue induced by the copper concentration in the preservative, pressure therapy is practically colourless. The treatment greys over time, although this has no effect on its quality. This means you won't have to treat the shed right away. However, many customers choose to personalise their sheds by adding an external wood treatment, which offers additional protection to the wood as well as a dash of colour. This is also a terrific method to update the look of your shed over time.
