The increased quality, 12mm thick tongue and groove walls ensure not only a robust structure, but also that the inside of the shed compartment is well-sealed from the elements. The fundamental strength of the building stems from its solid 34mm x 34mm framing, which assures a strong and high-quality construction. This structure supports a strong 12mm thick tongue and groove roof that provides unrivalled interior protection. Heavy grade mineral felt is included with each shed to offer further roof weatherproofing. It also boasts 34mm x 34mm thick floor joists that support a robust 12mm tongue and groove floor, giving rot resistance as well as an incredible load capacity that can sustain large and heavy items. The log storage chamber is composed of the same strong materials as the rest of the house, with the exception of slatted walls to enable airflow around stored logs and allow them to dry. Because of the generous eaves height and apex roof, the interior is beautiful and spacious, allowing you to store a wide range of different sizes, weights, and forms of goods. To provide you peace of mind when leaving valuables stored inside the shed compartment, padlock the sliding padbolt (padlock not included). The shed section also has an opening window, which allows for lots of natural light and ventilation as needed. The most generally used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus), which is widely available at a low cost; however, all of Shire's garden buildings are made of high grade spruce (picea). Spruce is more durable than pine and has a greater finish quality. This lumber is slow grown, as opposed to rapid grown timber from the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe. Slow grown timber has a tighter grain, less sap, and considerably fewer knots. As a result, the timber used on Shire's range is more resilient and will endure considerably longer than other timbers. Spruce is thus the timber of choice for companies such as Shire, which strives to provide the best garden construction possible. This shed has been pre-treated on both sides with a golden brown water-based industrial solution base coat (colour can vary from the picture shown). It is recommended that you use a top coat that is water-based. This will protect the lumber on your shed from weathering and allow it to last longer, but it must be repeated according to the manufacturer's instructions.
