The Shire Value Range sheds differ from similar goods in that they have supporting rails on the inside of each wall, not simply on the top, as some others on the market do. It also boasts a 34mm framework, which is 20% thicker than anything else at this pricing point, ensuring a significantly sturdier build that will last for years. The overlap design of the shed encourages efficient water runoff, which helps to keep the shed dry on the inside. However, a proper waterproofing solution should be performed to guarantee that your shed's contents are fully protected from the elements and that your shed lasts. The single door is sturdy and ledged, with a hasp and staple for security. A roof made of 8mm Oriented Strand Board (OSB) provides excellent weather resistance. Furthermore, with roofing felt included with your order, the level of protection is increased even further. The shed floor is similarly 8mm OSB, so it should be robust enough to hold whatever you need to keep within. Finally, the shed has two windows that bring in natural light. The most generally used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus), which is widely available at a low cost; however, all of Shire's garden buildings are made from high grade spruce (picea). Spruce is more resilient than pine and has a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown, as opposed to rapid grown timber from the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe, and being slow grown means a tighter grain, less sap, and fewer knots. As a result, the lumber used on Shire's line is a more durable timber that will last far longer than other timbers. This shed comes pre-treated on both sides with a golden brown water-based industrial compound (colour can vary from the picture shown). Shire suggests using a water-based top coat. This will protect the lumber on your shed from weathering, allowing it to last longer, and will need to be repeated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
