Del Carmen is a quarry in Spain that produces celtas-grade Spanish slate that’s drawn from a single uniform slate vein. The consistency and the quality of Del Carmen slate is only proven by its certification for use in Snowdonia National Park. Del Carmen is fully accepted as an alternative to Welsh slate and it’s accepted by English Heritage and Heritage Scotland. Tested to BS EN 12326, this Spanish slate reaches the highest certification in the UK, France and the US. Del Carmen ultra-grade slates achieve A1-T1-S1 and they have a 50-year guarantee from supplier SSQ. Since their lifespan is expected to last longer than 50 years, Del Carmen Spanish slate can be considered more sustainable as Del Carmen slate can last twice as long as other roofing tiles. Since Del Carmen slate is taken straight from a single vein of Del Carmen quarry, there’s no synthesizing and processing which emits CO2.
